Komodo Island, part of the Lesser Sunda Islands in Indonesia, is renowned for its exceptional biodiversity and the iconic Komodo dragons, the world's largest lizard species. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a haven for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers.

The island's rugged terrain features dry savannah landscapes, volcanic hillsides, and pink sand beaches, creating a stunning backdrop for exploring its natural wonders. The main attraction remains the Komodo National Park, a protected area encompassing several islands, where visitors can observe these ancient reptiles in their wild habitat. Guided tours offer opportunities to witness these formidable creatures up close, gaining insights into their behavior and natural history.

Beyond the Komodo dragons, the surrounding waters of the national park are teeming with vibrant marine life, making it a world-class diving and snorkeling destination. However, as of my last knowledge update in January 2022, the Indonesian government announced plans to close Komodo Island to preserve its ecosystem and relocate the dragons to other nearby islands. These conservation efforts aim to protect the species and its habitat, emphasizing the importance of sustainable tourism and environmental conservation in the region.
